THE RELATIONSHIP OF PATIENT KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE IN PREVENTING GASTRITIS DISEASE AT RANTAUPRAPAT REGIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between knowledge and patient attitudes in preventing stomach ulcers at Rantauprapat Regional Hospital. This research is an Analytical Observation study with a Cross Sectional research design which was carried out in the Rantauprapat Hospital inpatient room from May to July 2022. The total sample was 31 people from the entire population studied using the total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The sample inclusion criteria in this study were willing to be respondents who could read and write in Indonesian, inpatients, patients who had or had not experienced gastritis and were cooperative. Before the research was carried out, the researcher asked for research permission from Imelda University of Medan and a reply for research permission from Rantauprapat General Hospital. The results of the research from 31 respondents showed that the level of knowledge of the respondents was still sufficient, numbering 18 people (58.0%) and the attitude of the respondents was good, numbering 19 people (61.3%) while the results of statistical tests used SPSS (Statistical System Processing Standard) per 15 (Univariate) using the Chi-square analysis test p < 0.05 or p = 0.002 < 0.05 that there is a relationship between knowledge and patient attitudes, especially in preventing ulcers at Rantauprapat Regional Hospital.
